2016 Cascina Disa Elio Sandri Dolcetto d'Alba

At first this is very leathery in the nose, then turning earthy with hints of violet and cherry skin/plum skin fruit on the palate. Light and zesty with some tiny little chewy tannins lending this light bodied, 12.5% alcohol bottle some weight. Super length. Just purity and vibrancy, and outrageous drinkability. So juicy and focused with a fine sheen of fruit that wraps around the lacy structure on the midpalate, and then gaining sweetness through the long finish where that tannins emerge lending a hint of austerity and astringency to the finale of bitter almond.  Hard to give this a point score. It is after all a fairly simple wine, but expertly made and delivering so much sheer drinking pleasure. Let's call it 91pts and buy by the case.

Greg writes this stuff. He just drinks the wine and writes his thoughts, some few bottles are samples but he'll probably let you know which those are.
