2016 Broccardo Dolcetto d’Alba 13%
5 days maceration
A little wild with some dandelion green notes lending freshness and layered in a fairly complex smoky, and darkly fruited nose. Much fresher in the mouth than on the nose, juicy, complex, a bit mineral with dark fruit flavors, very light tannins, juicy, very nice, squeaky clean in the mouth with a little mineral cut and good length. 86pts
2015 Broccardo Barbera d’Alba 14.5%
10 days maceration, 9 months in wood
Has a slender, lean imprint of oak but is in keeping with the intensity and style of the nose, which is fairly earthy. Showing real focus and cut in the mouth in a vibrant, steely, transparent, pure style. Good length, very fresh style, juicy with lovely red cherry fruit and fine length. 87pts
2015 Broccardo Langhe Nebbiolo 14.5%
7 months in botte
Impressive depth and complexity on the nose, a bit stemmy, and layered with underbrush and lingonberry. Gentle on the palate, very fruity, bright, lots of acid in balance with lovely ripe tannins. There’s lovely depth to the fruit on the palate, all wild cherry with a lush ripe tannins and balanced in a rather big shouldered way,. Finishes with good focus and length in a slightly jammy cherry way. 89pts
2013 Broccardo Barolo I Tre Pais 14%
2 years in botte 80% slavonia
Fine floral accent notes to the rather deep and assertive cherry in alcohol aromas which have a light sweetness to them in a burnished fruit way. A little balsamic on entry then intensely cherry fruited, showing like hard but not sweet candy with fine clarity and inner mouth perfumes. This shows the superb balance of the vintage, elegant and fine with attractive purity to the finale. 89pts
2013 Broccardo Barolo Bricco San Pietro
More soil toned on the nose, dusty and white soil aromas are paired with tight very rose petal scented floral notes in a subtle and nuanced package. Elegant wine, lovely nuanced style with precise red berry fruit, fine tannins, and really attractive balsamic and earthy notes framing the fruit in the mouth, turning a bit chewy on the backend but overall this remains bright and fresh in a more serious style than the I Tre Pais. 90pts
